After the torrential rains the sun came out. The sun reflected off the autumn colors in the back yard.

Designing the Illusion quilt, originally uploaded by mabeane6.
In order to sew this together I need to lay out the peices first. Its a straight up and down seam but it doesn’t look like that once its done.

I worked on my quilt parts for the PJ party at the guild on Wednesday. First I appliqued then I quilted the center. I have to find enough batting to complete the top. I want to use up leftovers rather than buy any more batting. Tonight I put together some pieces to make an illusion wall hanging.
I went to Robin’s for some veggies and came home with tomatoes, greens, squash, rutabaga and carrots. We steamed the carrots for supper.
Today was a better day as far as dealing with the free floating anxiety that the issues with Paul’s salary have brought on.
Tomorrow I have customers coming in the morning for fabric. I should probably advertise for one last sale this fall.

I made two loaves of wheat bread. I ground the wheat berries and followed a recipe in the More for Less cookbook. I sampled a piece before putting it in the freezer. Yummy. I figured that since I was already cooking I’d also make some Italian bread. I got that recipe from the internet. That’s in the freezer for hor’derves on Friday. And then not to be overrun with breads I made some delicious oatmeal cookies.

Paul invited me to join him yesterday afternoon in the field. What a wonderful time we had. We brought the dogs and all the equipment needed to cut off limbs from already cut down trees. My job was to drag away the cut limbs and put them in a burn pile. Paul cut and then piled skinny logs onto the trailer. We spent about an hour at this task before coming down to have supper. Good exercise, good fellowship and wood for the winter!
A hot soak in the tub finished off our evening. Neat!
Today I have already done the food shopping and am getting ready to make some bread. Things are a bit tight with the money/insurance issue Paul is dealing with at school with the superintendent. So I need to plan meals much more carefully. When times are tight my creativity kicks in heavy duty and we have had some scrumptious meals. God is good.

It hardly seems so long ago we were children. He and I were close friends growing up and did goofy things together. He brought home a friend for me when I was four. He taughtme to ride a bike when I was seven. He and I,, with two neighbor kids, collected an ocean of newspapers to sell. The kids’ mother was none to thrilled with us since we stacked all these old newspapers in her garage. He insisted I play golf with him in our backyard when I was a teenager and liked to go the the local Spa (drug store) to buy ice cream sundaes on Sunday night after church. Then we grew up, grew apart, married and had families, they grew and now we are friends once again. I enjoy his dry wit and interesting observations about life. I don’t always agree with him but he has been in my life for so long I have learned to put up with him.
Happy Birthday Bro.
