An early morning fishing trip requires ‘fresh’ worms. Apparently digging them by flashlight is just the ticket!

The last of the backyard beans and the first of the side garden potatoes. These potatoes are the ones that sprouted in the cold room.

My box of day”s” old chicks is sitting in the Hampden Post office. It missed the early morning run to our area and the Postal clerk called me to let me know at 6AM this morning. He said I could come for them if I wanted but since round trip it is four hours and I have an appointment this morning that was not feasible. Hopefully they’ll make it tomorrow.
I need to take the truck…shivers and scariness…to Baring for a new windshield. Then it needs to be inspected. The hours are such that Paul could not do it but I do NOT like to drive the stick shift at all and rarely drive the truck. The best part is that my friend Jeannie B is picking me up there and we’ll go off to lunch and such while the window gets put in (2 hour job).
All my addresses are done so I am free of that until tomorrow. A new month already!
DH has a long weekend. Yippee!

Hot today but very fulfilling. I got four more addresses done, leaving just two for tomorrow. I dug some potatoes…yippee. And I am all ready for my baby chicks. I thought they’d be here today but no…I have to wait a bit longer. Ah well.
My spirits are lifted today. God is good. This life He has given is great. Praise God.

After finding a lot of fresh veggies still in the fridge I decided to get some soup made and put by. i have a good basic veggie soup that has add ons when you defrost and heat it at a later time. I love it. it used up all the veggies that I had waiting to be eaten. When it cools a bit five containers will go in the freezer. This morni ng I made a yummy Italian bread with multigrain flour to add some interest. It is delicious. And the shortcake… the neighbor gave us strawberries and biscuits yesterday so we had shortcake two days in a row. What a deal!
Tonight..the game..NY and the Sox in Fenway. Go Red Sox!

DH was off for his first day of school and I launched into fall cleanup. I moved all the “great” room furniture and swept, dusted and vacuumed. Then I ditched some extra furniture and rearranged the rest for our heating needs. It looks spacious and clean. I love it. I kinda squished my finger in the bookcase (may lose the nail) but it was worth it to have this done for the beginning of the fall season.
Yesterday I went 162 miles and 6 hours to get four for four addresses. Yippee. That’s why I stayed home today. Wednesday my new chicks should arrive. I am excited about them. They are a heavy brown egg layer mix. It is always fun to see what they will turn out to be!

DH was off fishing by 5 AM this morning. He quietly tiptoed out of the house leaving me a carafe of hot coffee and more sleeptime. What a guy! I have puttered some and am preparing to make a census run. The temps are already in the 70s and going up. After our cold spell this seems very warm!
Our neighbor blessed up with a bunch of fresh carrots which I immediately turned into juice! The juice has been shelved for a while but with the abundance of gift produce it will see some use this fall. We love the fresh juice!

Both father and daughter took some beautiful cloud pictures tonight. Even though they are miles apart, they are together in spirit.
