I was up at 5:30AM adding wood to the stove to warm the living room up a bit and then I put on the coffee. While that brewed I checked Email and blogs and watch the light come across the sky. After coffee I went upstairs to iron a shirt for DH and a skirt for me, so we could be ready to go. I said a good morning to DH when he appeared and then headed down to let the hens out. This morning I was leaving as soon as DH left so I could have breakfast with my friend Jean and return a broken crockpot as well.

I was off by 7:30AM headed into town… here we’re talking a 40 minute trip! Breakfast was yummy, the crockpot got replaced and I headed back toward home doing some work visits on the way. No one was home but I left my literature in the door anyway.

Back at home I checked for eggs and discovered “Miss Broody” still setting. Heading down to my neighbor’s farm I decided to put this hen to work. She provided me with 6 duck eggs and a turkey egg. In 28 days we’ll see if we have any results! We shared coffee and stories, she gave me some promix and I headed back home, eggs in tow.

Now I had more things to do this afternoon! I collected “Miss Broody” and put her in a large dog kennel on the screen porch with the eggs and waited. I soaked down the promix in anticipation of planting some seeds and settled in for a veggie lasagna lunch. After lunch I broke out the new crockpot and made pea soup.

“Miss Broody” has puffed up and covered all the eggs and has settled in without so much as a howdy do! Now we wait.

After lunch I went up to the sewing room to finish a doll order and to iron some fabric that had been washed for doll clothes.

The phone kept ringing. After several calls I was able to finish up th order and stir the soaked promix and add more water to it. I guess I’ll plant seeds tomorrow.

I went out and got some kindling to restart the woodstove and gave the hens the leavings from the pea soup prep. Then I got on the phone and ordered some more boxes to ship out dolls. I am running very low.

DH called and said he wouldn’t be too late. My grandson called and my daughter called. I checked the soup and turned down the crockpot and headed out to bring in so things I’d left in the car. Threw a load of clothes into the dryer and sat down for a break.

When DH arrived we share some yummy ice cream (Moose Tracks) and caught up on each other’s day. I went out and closed in the hens and put my car in the garage.

Both of us got on our laptops and turned on the Red Sox game to finish out the evening.

That is my day today!
