DH has a small hummingbird in his hand. He was helping him get out of the hen house and the little fella hung around for a bit.

Back in January I gave DH a camera he had requested for his birthday. At first he seemed very tentative about using it. Later I am seeing him snap away and with great success. This beauty was in our bird tree yesterday.

These came to the feeder early this morning.

What a surprise to see this cardinal in the bird tree early this morning. I have never seen one here before!

This woodpecker spent a lot of time going up and down the tree, twisting and turning.

I was cooking up some bacon and glanced out the window and saw these travelers looking for water. They generally land on the lower pond but it is still covered with ice. They attempted to go into the lower part of Maine Falls but I think the water was flowing too fast and maybe it was too cold.

We are giddy with anticipation.

The days are longer.

The weather is warmer.

The ground is soaking up oceans of moisture.

When the snow finally disappears it will be a glorious spring.  I know it is coming.  I feel it in the air.

This skittish bird has gotten braver and braver as the cold winter hangs on. He was just outside the kitchen window on the feeder. Usually we only see them on the ground and in quick flight.

This bird likes windswept tundra, ice and snow. I guess this must be the place!
