Paul is working on getting raised beds in to facilitate earlier planting in the spring. We can’t get a tractor on the garden (because its wet) until June. With the beds it should mean I can get my spinach, lettuce etc in early.

Maine in the summer is delightful. The days are warm and the nights are cool. Today is that kind of a day. I took my coffee out on the deck in the cool of the morning and listened to the bird sounds wafting across the field. DH is back from our son’s house and we have had a sweet morning visit.
I am looking forward to a slow and quiet day puttering, visiting with my friend, wandering around a bit and tidying up here and there. My friend is under orders to REST and I have insisted that she at least lay on the couch on the afternoon. Both days she slept over two hours. We are going to bed early (not usual for her) and getting up late (also not her style) so I feel she is truly getting the R&R she needs. Her usual life includes a lot of running around and long days. Next week her oldest daughter (who is late 40s) is getting married and all of her 8 children (my friend has eight, all grown up)will be home with assorted grandkids and spouses so she truly needs this time of rest. We took a trip to Calais for breakfast out and Marden’s yesterday but won’t venture out until Saturday when we may do some yard sales. We’ll see.
