The forecast is for a freeze. I am heading out to pick tomatoes and green beans and what ever else i there to be picked. Later we will cover the tomatoes with row cover and hope for the best. After tonight we are supposed to have a string of good days. I am hoping that will ripen the rest of the corn.

We had a lovely ride to Machias and enjoyed each other’s company. I went off to the supermarket while he went in to interview. They loved him, he loved them, the job was well suited to him… only one catch. It is only part time and pays 1/3 of what he’s been bringing home if it becomes full time.
We went to lunch and talked about it at length. Lunch was delicious by the way (thank, Amity, for your generosity) and we enjoyed the time together.
Both of us were tired when we got home but tried to get to work here. I think I could use a nap.

My brother and sister-in-law spent several days with us. We had a wonderful visit and enjoyed their company immensely. I was sorry to see them go.
Today is a quiet Monday with back to the routine behavior. I am taking it slow and easy as this weather change has affected my body in weird ways.

The weather was perfect. The day was delightful. The neighbors had a yard sale easily watched from our large front window! The guys got to go fishing and we played here. Julia picked a lot of tomatoes and I finished another doll. We had a good breakfast of oven fried potatoes and scrambled eggs and muffins with homemade strawberry jam. Tonight we had fresh picked pole beans an spinach lasagna using our fall spinach. Dessert was Shanna’s recipe of Wicked Blueberry Whip. It was delicious! The harvest season makes for some great meals.

I am baking this morning. Its not too hot to run the stove and I have carrot cake almost done and just put in zucchini bars. I am wanting to use my harvest as fresh as possible. I am getting ready to make Italian bread for our lunch of spaghetti with homemade sauce. Since the oven is already hot it makes the most sense.
What a beautiful Sunday!

When you purchase chicks from McMurray they throw in an extra, something to watch and wonder about. What kind? What color? What sex? Brownie is just such a chick. We’ll try and photo him/her weekly and see what results.

Its cool (50s) and windy this morning. My DH went fishing and but came home early. He started a fire in the wood stove and it took him a long time to get warm again. We are headed to Calais in a bit to do some errands and to make arrangements to get his tractor. He needed it fixed to continue the woods work. Its already got a cord stacked in the greenhouse and more to tossed in as well. He has some across the street to cut up as well. We use the greenhouse because it dries the wood very quickly for us.
I have one outfit almost done for Miss Susan my brown haired beauty and will make her a nighties and another outfit. That should happen later today or tomorrow morning.
I need to get a shopping list made and then move on from there.
