work

Thanks to my brother -in-law I knew how to get into the very low four wheel drive, otherwise I might still be sitting in my jeep at the bottom of an ice covered road next to the lake! Fortunately I was wedged in the snow bank a bit and backed into it so as to have a place from which to move forward back up the hill. I certainly didn’t want to go down any further with the lake looming in front of me. I was about 4 miles from the main road in an area of camps so no help was readily available. I took a deep breath and was able to get the jeep back to the snow covered area in the lowest gear. Whew! That was close.

I am home, exhausted from the ordeal, drinking coffee with my sweet DH and thankful to be home.

I spent some time this morning doing mandatory training required by my part time job.  I have been stalling and tricked myself into doing it by giving myself a reward when I was finished.  I am going for a visit to my sister’s house.  I know I was avoiding this training task because the house is clean and the laundry is done.  It seems when I need to avoid I find anything else to do instead of the task at hand.  As it was, the training was straightforward and easy.  What was I thinking?

This month we have an early deadline to get our work done. In addition we have a training day which involves travel and an overnight. And it’s December. Heavy snow is forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday. So I worked again today. I got another interview and visited 3 more addresses.  I have some phone follow up later today and then probably nothing until next Saturday.  So tomorrow…

I have a Christmas idea I want to run with and will get some pictures up when I am finished. I am beginning to get my creativity back!  Yippee.

I left early this morning and put in 6 1/2 hours. It was snowing when I left and the wind was bitterly cold. I was able to visit 5 places and did two interviews. One was on a dirt road way out near the water. You can imagine how cold it was. You could see whitecaps on the lake.  116 miles later I was home again, satisfied that I had done my best!

Meanwhile back at the “ranch” the DH was making my life easy by cleaning up the kitchen, tending the wayward ducks and putting supper in the crockpot. What a guy! I am usually so bushed when I finish this kind of a day that I have nothing left. And he saw to it that there was nothing for me to do. He cannot be replaced!

This evening the wind is howling down off the field. The fire in the stove is throwing off wonderful heat and we are relaxing. The day is done.
