Summer Tuesday in July

Today we went to the Amish community in Smyrna. Out of respect for their traditions I did not take pictures of the small barefoot children in long dresses with pretty smiles.  The youngster manning the non electric cash register would have made an interesting photo as well. He was pleasant and efficient as he turned the handle for each sale made.  The strawberries for sale out front were beautiful. I purchased a quart to bring home.

We ate lunch at the Elm St Diner in Houlton , a well known eating spot with excellent food and good service. Houlton Farms ice cream stand was where we finished off our meal.

We stopped to visit a huge goat operation in Amity and then we stopped to talk to a local guy who had haying equipment.

It was a wonderful sister day!
